21st Century Social Studies Lessons

Screen Shot 2016-05-20 at 6.46.46 AMBack in the day hyperlinks took our breath away. Now we expect so much more from the World Wide Web. Online programs and tools have functions and capabilities that would have been beyond our imagine just a few years ago.

Special thanks goes to all the dedicated educators who “seized the day”, or perhaps “seized the century”, by devoting countless hours sorting through the technologies, attending training, networking and raising money to bring teaching and learning into the 21st century. As the technology revolution marched on these well-informed educators have honed their expectations. They now demand that online tools used in the classroom are safe, reliable, cross-platform, device independent, intuitive and MOST OF ALL add value to their lessons.

Geoinquiries by the Esri education department, meet these demands. Geoinquiries are one-sheet lessons, field-tested by educators with hyperlinks to the appropriate online, interactive maps. These 15 minute lessons are designed to be led by the teacher and to integrate with the curriculum. They are perfect examples of using the tools on hand to teach.
